Art on Main Gallery and exhibition curator Katherine Baronet are seeking a diverse group of women artists, who have had little to no gallery experience, to submit their works to participate in an exhibition entitled, Women in Art – A Joyful Journey. We are looking for artist’s interpretation of JOY, CREATIVITY and COLOR, in these mediums: Paintings, Drawings, Photography, Ceramics, and Sculpture.

Artists should reflect on stories, life journeys, or experiences in their lives, it could be imaginative or dreamlike. Something that evokes brilliant color, powerful energy and/or joyful memories.

1. Line, shape, color, and the use of space within an artwork that depicts the title of the exhibition, “A Joyful Journey”.

2. 3-dimensional form and motion of a sculpture that depicts, expresses, or exemplifies the show title.

3. Creativity and originality that demonstrates a quality representation or expression of the title of the show.

4. An expression of emotionalism that evokes joy or some kind of personal journey towards the exhibition title.

5. Energy or movement within an artwork that is an expression of joy.

MISSION

The mission of this project is to provide to a diverse group of women artists from DFW and surrounding areas., who are either in early or in mid-career, a place to exhibit their artwork, the opportunity to have a visual voice and be part of a collective artistic community of empowerment. The catalyst for this will be a collaborative exhibition in a professional gallery setting with a specific message to focus on joy, creativity, and color.

As part of this mission, the exhibition curator, Katherine Baronet will provide mentorship and instruction as to what is involved in preparing for an art show. This includes the following components: artwork wired and framed, installation of the work, prepping walls, labeling/pricing artwork, how to handle sales, marketing tools (web, social media, email, and print, etc.), how to invite people/public and their families and friends to an Artist Reception of their work. All the artists will participate in the preparation and closing of the artist reception.
